Starting my doctoral program at the age 50
Updated: Jul 17, 2022
Today is my 50th birthday. As I celebrate another milestone, I am going to make this as my personal goal to write posts regularly about my journey with the pipe organ and some fun facts about my Japanese culture.
I was a typical stay-at-home mother for a long time. As my children grew up, I began to question about my existence in this world. I wanted to explore more and see what's out there for me. During the last two decades, I raised my children and helped start a family business with my husband. Finally I have time of my own. So I went back to school in 2018 at the age of 45. With much support from my teachers and colleagues, I am starting my doctoral program as DMA candidate in pipe organ this Fall. I have mixed emotions about this new journey. I feel blessed to be where I am, but at the same time, I still wonder, "Is this the right path for me?". I can only hope that my own posts will guide me through the journey of discovery and re-discovery.
